Expert for Tourism in Protected Aeas
Context of assignment:
The Product Development component of the NorthWest Tourism Project is to identify special interest tourism products which can be made ready for further marketing. Some preparatory work such as a product inventory or profiles for various tourism products have already been accomplished. On this basis, the expert shall identify adequate tourism opportunities in protected nature areas in NorthWest Russia.
Job description
Tasks:
The expert is expected to carry out the following assignments:
- Description and assessment of tourism activities in protected nature areas in NorthWest Russia (infrastructure, types of activities, tourism operators, etc)
- Conduct of a SWOT for tourism activities in each protected area
- Collection of adequate maps of protected areas
- Outlining of general tourism policies in protected areas
- Identification of adequate partners for further contacts in protected area
- Analysis and, if possible, deatailed proposals, of/for opportunities for nature tourism (hiking, trekking, etc.) in protected areas
- Connecting findings with those of nature tourism expert
The expert will work closely with the International Expert (s) engaged in Product Development as well as with the local expert working on nature tourism
Requirements:
- Previous work experience with protected nature areas in NorthWest Russia and , if possible, in tourism
- Good knowledge of rules and regulations in protected area system
- Interest and understanding for outdoor tourism
- Writing and communication capability in English
