300 anniversary of capital of Russian Empire and the Northern

In 2003 Saint-Petersburg - the last capital of Russian Empire and the Northern capital of present Russia - will celebrate its 300 anniversary. Vladimir Putin, the president of the Russian Federation is the chairman of the Committee of the celebrities, which is of national status.

A calendar of anniversary events is being formed at present time. All the celebrities are to take place during the whole 2003. That gives an opportunity to create a unified complex tourist product, attractive for the tourists, both during the anniversary and the following years.

Moreover, a wide range of anniversaries of historical towns and cities, besides Saint-Petersburg's one, will take place in 2003.
